________

Global Interest Rates - Bob Lyddon

A tough year in prospect for Western financial authorities as they try to extricate themselves from a net of their own creation. How will financial authorities in the USA, UK and Eurozone try to square the circle in 2022 of price inflation, asset value bubbles, artificially low interest rates, and their own financial stimulus programs? These programs date back to the Global Financial Crisis of 2008 and the Eurozone Debt Crisis of 2011/2 and, far from being tapered off, have been massively increased during the pandemic. Not content with just that, the Eurozone has created a further layer of public-supported debt which neither the public credit rating agencies nor the EU's statistical database track back onto the public entities that ultimately back the debt. Where does that leave the Western economy going into 2022 and what could be the response of financial authorities?
