Job Description:

The Oregon Department of Justice is conducting a search for experienced Fiscal Analyst 2. We are hiring one permanent, full-time position. As a vital member of Budget Services, you will help prepare, analyze, and execute the agency’s budget, as well as provide interim reporting and special assistance to assigned divisions and programs

Example of Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Create and update expenditure reports 
  • Forecast expenditures 
  • Analyze expenditures against budget projections to monitor fiscal performance
  • Monitor financial data to verify accuracy of the records 
  • Provide division and program managers expenditure patterns or forecasts 
  • Analyze revenue projections against expenditure projections to monitor cash flow 
  • Provide advice to division and program managers about funding concerns 
  • Provide options and alternatives to help managers develop solutions 
  • Develop finance plans for new and reallocated positions and for requests to reclassify positions, coordinating with Human Resources and affected divisions regarding any budgetary issues 
  • Suggest alternative financing options when appropriate and notify affected management 
  • Assist in preparation of material for presentations to the Legislature.

What will you do:

  • Gather data to perform cost analysis and tracking for policy option packages, reductions and fiscal impacts of legislative bills 
  • Assist Division Administrators and Chief Financial Officer in the preparation of budget narratives and presentation materials 
  • Use Excel spreadsheet trackers to calculate base budget and essential package values throughout the budget development process 
  • May calculate mandated caseload forecast costs and positions/FTE 
  • Input budget data for assigned division and programs into Oregon Budget Information Tracking System and Position Information Control System.
